The wedding was beautiful, perfect weather, fun ceremony intermixed with laughter and tears, and one hell of a party. Brice and I got to enjoy the after glow of the wedding for a full day!
Then we started packing. I have to say that packing up a three bedroom, two bath house with a oversized two car garage is not a fun experience. We worked for three days straight and on May 9th at about midnight we were done!
With all our belongings in the storage unit and a few in our Honda we hit the road with our three dogs. Our destination, Silver City, New Mexico. Silver City is home to a smokejumper base that the Missoula smokejumper base staffs every year. With the New Mexico fire season between May and June and Missoula's between July and September it just makes sense and extends the fire season for the firefighters and for Brice.
Our first stop Billings, MT to visit with my mom. Then onto Saratoga, WY where we stayed our second night. The town's motto "Where the Trout Leap in Main Street." When we pulled up to our hotel we saw a few fishing boats. Brice would soon learn that the area has fantastic fishing as well as a local micro-brewery. Saratoga is on Brice's list of places to fish in the future.
The micro-brewery was different. It was located within a Spa/Golf resort and while the beers were good (i.e. average) the prices were a bit appalling. We each had 20 oz beers that cost $7.25 each! Yikes!
After the shock of our beer price, we also discovered that Saratoga has a 24 hour hot springs, free to the public. The hot springs is managed by the city, the pools are well maintained and there is a locker room as well. The temperature of the coolest pool is 106 the temperature of the hot pool is 119, too hot for me. The hot springs were beautiful and so nicely managed. The free part was great too, especially after the price of beer!
